हिन्दू धार्मिक शास्त्रों के अनुसार, माँ गंगा को नदियों में सबसे पवित्र तथा पूजनीय माना जाता है और यही कारण है कि लोग दूर-दूर से गंगा नदी में स्नान करने आते हैं। माना जाता है कि गंगा नदी में स्नान करने से न केवल व्यक्ति के सारे कष्ट दूर हो जाते हैं, बल्कि उसके द्वारा जाने-अनजाने में किए गए सारे पाप भी धुल जाते हैं। गंगा नदी में स्नान के अतिरिक्त जिसे सबसे अधिक महत्व दिया जाता है, वह है माँ गंगा की आरती। हिन्दू धर्म में गंगा आरती का एक विशेष महत्व माना गया है। गंगा आरती का दृश्य, केवल देखने मात्र से ही व्यक्ति, भक्ति के रस में सराबोर हो जाता है। गंगा आरती को देखने के लिए केवल भारत से ही नहीं, बल्कि विदेशों से भी लोग आते हैं। माना गया है कि जो भी भक्त, सच्चे मन से माँ गंगा की आरती करता है, उसके सारे पाप मिट जाते हैं। आइए दर्शन करते हैं उत्तराखंड के ऋषिकेश में स्थित परमार्थ निकेतन आश्रम में प्रतिदिन होने वाली भव्य गंगा आरती के। According to Hindu religious scriptures, Goddess Ganga is considered to be the most sacred and revered among the rivers and that is why people come from far and wide to take holy bath in the river Ganga. It is believed that by taking bath in river Ganga, not only all the troubles of a person vanishes, but all the sins committed by him knowingly or unknowingly are also washed away. Apart from bathing in the river Ganga, the Aarti of Goddess Ganga is considered to have a special significance in Hindu religion. Just by beholding the scene of Ganga Aarti, a person becomes drenched in the juice of devotion. People come not only from India but also from abroad to see Ganga Aarti. It is believed that any devotee who performs the Aarti of Goddess Ganga with a true heart, all his sins get erased.
